Man found stabbed in Valley Stream, later dies

Police have suspect in custody

State police identified a man who was fatally stabbed last week as Sumeet Singh, 21, of Wyngate Drive East in Franklin Square. Singh succumbed to his injuries while being treated at Winthrop Hospital in Mineola, police said Tuesday.

According to police, Singh was found lying in the westbound entrance to the Southern State Parkway at Corona Avenue with multiple stab wounds at approximately 9:20 p.m. on Jan. 11.

Police said the arrestee, Camari Hurley, 23, also of Franklin Square, is being changed with second-degree attempted murder and assault. A law enforcement source familiar with the case said that charges would likely be upgraded.
