LIRR trains between Rockville Centre and Valley Stream will have an adjusted schedule between Sept. 2 and Nov. 16, as a section of the Babylon branch is getting its tracks resurfaced. The adjusted schedule mainly affects overnight weeknight trains.

“Overnights are between midnight and five a.m., before the rush hour begins,” said Meredith Daniels, Metropolitan Transit Authority spokesperson. There are 22 trains in this time period, including four trains on the Far Rockaway and Hempstead branches.

Resurfacing tracks is part of regular maintenance – “like roads need to be resurfaced,” said Daniels.

According to Daniels, one or two tracks will be out of service when work is being done. The adjusted schedule will be released Sept. 2. Trains will between six minutes earlier to 11 minutes later and both eastbound and westbound trains will be affected.

The full list of changed schedules is available on the LIRR’s website under “Station Timetables: Sept. 2 2014 – Nov. 16, 2014.”
