Stepping into their 19th year, the Freeport Chamber of Commerce held their annual golf classic at the Harbor Links Golf Course in Port Washington on Aug. 24. The annual event, a Freeport tradition, provides an opportunity to highlight and celebrate the works and contributions of Freeporters in the community. This year the fetes honored the exeutive director of Freeport Housing Authority, John Hrvatin.

Through Hrvatin’s leadership and support of the housing’s Board of Commissioners, the New York State Housing Finance Authority, the Governor's Office of Storm Recovery, officials and legislators from Nassau County, Village of Freeport officials and department heads, and co-developer Georgica Green Ventures, the new Moxey Rigby apartment complex became a reality.

Freeport golf enthusiasts along with supporters of the Chamber, participated in a full day on the driving range followed by dinner, cocktails and raffle prizes. The money raised at the event is used to invest in community and programming events in the interest of the Freeport community.

"It is an honor to accept the award from the Freeport Chamber of Commerce as their Executive of the Year,” Hrvatin said.  “Please keep in my mind that one person alone did not turn around the Freeport Housing Authority, it was truly a team effort, an ALL STAR team at that.  I share this award with our Board of Commissioners, our employees, our consultants, and our vendors, and our tenants. The new Moxey Rigby Apartment complex is truly a crowning achievement for the Freeport Housing Authority."
