Basketball playoffs postponed

Thursday games moved to Saturday; Friday games still on

The Nassau Class A boys' basketball playoff tournament and the Class AA girls' basketball playoff tournament, set to begin on Thursday, have been pushed back to Saturday due to inclement weather.

Games times for Saturday have been set. The top-seeded Lawrence boys' team is home at 1 p.m. against Roslyn. No. 2 South Side tips off against visiting North Shore at 6 p.m., and No. 6 Hewlett is home to Bethpage at 10:30 a.m. West Hempstead, the No. 3 seed, hosts Garden City in a 2 p.m. tipoff. Valley Stream South, the No. 4, is home against Great Neck North at noon. Also at noon, Seaford visits No. 5 Westbury. At 1 p.m. No. 7 Floral Park hosts No. 10 Manhasset, and No. 9 Carey travels to Roosevelt. Winners advance to Tuesday's quarterfinals.

In Class AA girls, the action starts at 10 a.m. Saturday when No. 7 Valley Stream Central hosts Syosset. At noon, No. 6 Herricks entertains Hicksville, and at 1 p.m. it's Elmont at No. 5 Long Beach, and No. 9 MacArthur at No. 8 Uniondale. Winners advance to Tuesday's quarterfinals.

Friday's Class A girls' playoff games and Class AA boys' playoff games are still on, but could be moved if severe weather persists.
