Civic collects

The Island Park Civic Association filled a food truck with donations for the Sacred Heart Church pantry on Nov. 21. President Anna Califano D’Amaro said they received $600 to buy items and boxes and boxes of non-perishable food, plus personal health items, and household cleaning goods.

“We got food, lots of food, soaps, deodorants, cleaners and so many things. It’s going to be like a real store there, thanks to all in the community who gave, just what they need for the holidays,” D’Amaro said, “The only thing we did not get a lot of were adult diapers, but there is a box still open in the library, and I am sure more people will be dropping items off.”

D’Amaro wanted to thank three Island Park restaurants for their food donations to those working the event, Pancho’s, Jack’s and DaVinci’s, and the Local Ale House for hosting the food drive.
