“This was the first contested chamber election in memory,” Ingoglia said. “I am for democracy and was glad to have the challenge, but many of my detractors at the meeting were not even chamber members. I thought that some of the behavior on the part of my detractors was inappropriate.”

Addressing the Island Park Library’s complaint, he said, “The chamber officials were invited to the library opening, and we attended. The library had every opportunity to pay its dues, and it did not, so it was not a member in good standing, and could not vote.”

The new chamber officers will take their seats on Jan. 1, Ingoglia said. John Cestro was re-elected secretary, and Joanne Defeo was re-elected treasurer. Both ran unopposed.
