The Island Park Civic Association held a “Snapperthon” on Sept. 19 at Shell Creek Park. Among the participants were adults and kids from Island Park, Oceanside and Baldwin, 75 registered for the event in all. The Largest fish adult award went to Vinny Price of Island Park, Most fish caught adult went to Craig Graham of Baldwin, and most fish children went to Jonathan Schurin of Island Park. Six-year-old C J Graham of Baldwin caught the youth largest fish. It measured 11 ¼ inches. Mike Spina of Captain Mike’s Seafood in Oceanside donated adult prizes. The Island Park Civic Association presented the young winner with a new bike and Little League membership from President Jack Vobis.
