Lending a helping hand to hungry children
Penny Frondelli/Herald
Wil Keller, 12, sorted and packaged the pasta for the macaroni and cheese meals.

On Oct. 13, community members from all over Oceanside gathered at the Oceanside Lutheran Church to help pack meals for needy children.

People came together to help pack meals of macaroni and cheese and rice and beans, through the Kids Care outreach program, part of Outreach, Inc.

Oceanside residents hand-packed 20,000 meals. They weighed out the ingredients, packaged it all and sealed it. The meals are welcomed at food pantries all over. The food was sent to pantries in Oceanside, Freeport, Uniondale, Queens and more.
