Nassau County police arrested a Malverne man for an attempted assault in Island Park on Oct. 27 at 2:21 A.M.

According to detectives, Robert Locascio, 47, was inside The Local Ale House on Long Beach Road, when he broke the front window of the bar with a 2 by 4, and then fled the scene in a 1999 Ford Ranger. The owner of the bar, who preferred not to be named, said that the incident happened outside the bar when the man acted strangely. The man broke the window while they were waiting for the police to arrive, he said.

A male victim, 29, who was hanging on outside the driver’s side of the defendant’s car, was dragged over one hundred feet while on the northbound lanes of Long Beach Road. Fourth precinct police officers located Locasio, who was intoxicated and in possession of metal knuckles, and placed him under arrest.

The victim sustained injuries to his head, face and knees and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Locascio is being charged with assault, criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, criminal possession of a weapon and DWI. He was arraigned on Oct. 28 in First District Court in Hempstead.
