New Staff at Island Park Schools

Jennifer Spitz hired as Special Education Teacher at Francis X. Hegarty School

Jennifer Rose Spitz is an experienced behavior specialist. In addition to serving as the Supervising Head Teacher at The McCarton School in Manhattan, she was an Applied Behavior Analyst Therapist and a case manager/home therapist. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Childhood and Special Education from New York University, Steinhardt School of Education and a Master of Special Education and Behavior Disorders from Hunter College. She also is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

Meghan Gallagher - Teacher (half-time substitute teacher/half-time teaching asst.) at Francis X. Hegarty School

Meghan Gallagher has been an Inclusion Teaching Assistant at Lincoln Orens Middle School since 2012. She also was a leave replacement for 3rd and 5th grade in the Long Beach School District. A graduate of SUNY Cortland with a Bachelor of Childhood Education: Humanities, she earned a Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Adelphi University. She is a certified lifeguard. 

Kathleen Lista – Nurse at Francis X. Hegarty School

Kathleen Lista has more than 15 years’ experience as a head nurse, emergency room nurse, and medical-surgical nurse at South Nassau Communities and Southside Hospitals. Prior to joining the district, she was the Nurse Educator/In-Service Coordinator at Broad lawn Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A Registered Nurse, she earned an A.A.S. degree in Nursing from Nassau Community College.

Amee Feldman, Long-Term Leave Replacement at Francis X. Hegarty School

Amee Feldman was a permanent substitute in the Lynbrook Public School District prior to coming to Island Park. She also was a drama teacher for the Oceanside Department of Community Activities. She graduated from SUNY Binghamton with a Bachelor of Arts in Literature and Rhetoric and earned a Master of Science in Early Childhood Special Education from Adelphi University.
