Night of lights

The Island Park Business and Residential Chamber and County Executive Ed Mangano hosted the first annual Night of Lights, with a menorah lighting and a movie last Saturday.

Revelers gathered on the Mayor Alfred G. Riehl Memorial Triangle to kick off the holiday season. Rabbi Paul Hoffman of the South Shore Jewish Center lit the menorah, and Island Park Mayor Michael McGinty hung the first ornament on what was intended to be a community tree-decorating. But the IPBRC decided to forgo the decorating because of the cold, so Santa led children to the Jewish Center for a movie, popcorn, candy and refreshments.
