Students salute retiring music teacher
Courtesy Island Park School District
At the Lincoln Orens Middle School 7th and 8th grade spring concert, Cheryl Pal was saluted by Island Park administrators, faculty and students.

The annual spring concerts for both Francis X. Hegarty School and Lincoln Orens Middle School had a different theme as students made special efforts to recognize music teacher Cheryl Pal. Mrs. Pal is retiring this June after 37 years service to the district. As a special surprise at the Hegarty School concert, former orchestra students from the past three decades joined the 3rd and 4th grade chorus in dedicating to Mrs. Pal the song “You Have Made a Difference.” The song featured a guest solo by Christina DeCicco, a former student of Mrs. Pal’s and Broadway performer who has appeared as Eva Perrone in Evita and Arachne in Spiderman. It was a fitting tribute to an instructor who has given so much to Island Park children for nearly four decades.
