Pet Supplies Plus helps feed animals
Penny Frondelli/Herald
Workers off loaded thousands of meals for pets that were made homeless by Hurricane Sandy.

Last week, a different kind of donation came to Oceanside in the wake of Hurricane Sandy: pet supplies.

The pet food company Halo dropped 13,000 meals worth of food for pets at Pet Supplies Plus, located on Long Beach Road in Oceanside. From there, Pet Supplies Plus acted as a staging area, allowing local shelters and rescue operations to come pick up the free food so that they could feed homeless dogs and cats in the wake of the destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy.
