Police looking for Island Park robber

Nassau County police are investigating a robbery that took place in Island Park Friday morning at GiGi Moving Company, after an unidentified armed man stole an undetermined amount of money and ran off.

According to detectives, the suspect entered the company’s building, on Alabama Avenue, at 7:30 a.m., displaying a silver handgun and demanding money. A 75-year-old male victim complied, handing over an undetermined amount of money before he was tied up, police said. The robber then fled on foot eastbound on Saratoga Boulevard toward Austin Boulevard.

No injuries were reported, according to police, who described the suspect as a stocky 5-foot-7 black male in his late-20s.

Representatives at GiGi Moving Company did not immediately respond to the Herald’s request for comment. The Herald will update this story.
