Remembering Brian Monaghan

Posted

It began as a small gathering to honor the memory of Brian Monaghan, a retired New York City police officer who was living out his second career, playing the music he loved until a heart attack took him at the age of 50 on May 17. He was remembered as a kind and generous man who always helped out.

After his death, support and tributes began pouring into his family from friends, from fellow officers, and from strangers who had heard his music in clubs on Long Island and in and around New York City.

On July 18, about 500 people showed up at 155 Trafalgar Boulevard to hear music, play games, eat, have fun, raise money for his wife, Jenny, and their two children and to remember Monaghan.
