Out-of-towner thanks a local

To the Editor:

I would like to thank Adele Sodocha, of the Sky Athletic Club, for allowing members of the firefighting “brotherhood” to use the club’s facilities to take hot showers during the Hurricane Sandy disaster. My department was stationed at the Island Park Department from Nov. 5 through Nov. 8. Three of my firefighters and I took advantage of Adele’s offer for free showers at the club. Believe me, they were appreciated.

It’s nice to see a business think of others, especially the volunteer fire service, in their time of need. Again, thanks, Adele, for your assistance. May you have a great Thanksgiving and holiday season.

An assemblyman thanks the voters

To the Editor:

I’m humbled by the support I received at the polls on Election Day, especially as we continue our recovery from Hurricane Sandy. I’m looking forward to returning to Albany to reform LIPA, create jobs, stimulate our economy and make our communities affordable and safe for our working families and seniors.

Rosemarie and our kids join me in saying thank you. For those of you who voted for me — and those who did not — know that I’ll continue to tirelessly advocate for our community.

Even with the election and Hurricane Sandy behind us, our work is not done. I will continue to press LIPA to get answers. Holding the utility accountable and ensuring that it properly plans for the next storm, no matter the season, will provide relief to homeowners. We deserve no less, especially as LIPA survives on us, their hardworking, honest ratepayers.

Thank you again for your faith and confidence in me. I look forward to continuing my partnership with Sens. Dean Skelos and Charles Fuschillo and getting results for our area.

If I can be of any assistance to you, your family or neighbors, please feel free to call me at (516) 561-8216 or e-mail me at curranb@assembly.state.ny.us.
