A number of elected officials responded to the task force report.

U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand commented, “The Sandy task force’s rebuilding strategy will help get disaster relief into the hands of those who desperately need it and lays the foundation for building a smarter and stronger city and nation. I will continue to work with my colleagues to ensure that no red tape stands in the way of getting Sandy-impacted homeowners, businesses, and communities fully back on their feet.”

Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano said, “As a member of the advisory group, I have seen firsthand how seriously Secretary Shaun Donovan and the Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Task Force take their mission of helping the victims of Sandy and improving the federal recovery process. This strategy report responds to some of the biggest concerns and recovery needs residents have here in Nassau County. I applaud the task force’s commitment to regional coordination and infrastructure hardening, which are of vital importance to the people of Nassau, and I thank President Obama, Secretary Donovan and the task force’s New York state director, Jamie Rubin, for their commitment to advancing our recovery.”
