Volunteers from Island Park, with the help of JetBlue Airways and KaBOOM!, will build a new playground at Landgraf Park, located on Warterford Road, on August 1. The design of the park will be based on children’s drawings created at a special event in June.

The Village of Island Park and its residents are still rebuilding in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. In addition to places of worship, government buildings and homes and businesses, the community also saw extreme damage to its local playgrounds.

The kickoff ceremony starts at 8:30 a.m., and the ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
