Why I'm all in for John Kasich

Posted

On Nov. 8, 2016, voters will select the man or woman they feel is most qualified to succeed Barack Obama and become the next president. Last week, I formally declared that I will support Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

It wasn’t an easy decision. There’s an extra-large field of Republican candidates, and several are solid contenders. But there is nothing I want more than for a Republican to win the White House, and if you look at Kasich’s record and factor in that we must win Ohio to win the presidency, the choice becomes easier. Kasich is the only candidate who can assure us a victory in 2016.

He is the only Republican candidate with a proven record of leadership on the state and federal levels. You would be hard-pressed to find any candidate, Republican or Democrat, who can match his accomplishments.

As chairman of the House Budget Committee, he led the successful effort to balance the federal budget for the first time since men walked on the moon. This hasn’t been done again since he left the committee.

When he moved on to become governor, Kasich closed Ohio’s $8 billion budget shortfall without a tax increase. In fact, with his leadership, the state created a $2 billion surplus, which allowed the governor to cut taxes by $5 billion, the largest tax cut of any state. It helped the people of Ohio create more than 300,000 private-sector jobs in just four years. America desperately needs someone to do this in Washington, and Kasich is the man for the job.

The world is a more dangerous place now than ever before. Kasich knows the Pentagon, and understands the military and the need for a well-managed Defense Department. As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, he was a key supporter of President Reagan’s national security policies. He worked to transform our military into a more flexible force that can respond to the varied threats Americans face today.

Kasich understands that our troops need the resources to do their jobs safely, and deserve to come home after serving our country to a Department of Veterans Affairs that can take proper care of them.

He is the candidate who will make America strong and respected once again. He is a leader, plain and simple. He does what he believes and he does it well.
