Island Park Chamber of Commerce gets groovy at annual summer mixer

The Island Park Chamber of Commerce threw its summer mixer this August where members promoted local business and had a good, fun time.

This year, the chamber’s seventh annual summer mixer was held on the outdoor deck on Jordan Lobster Farm on Aug. 9. The event is designed “to promote business, network and just try and have some fun,” according to former chamber President Glenn Ingoglia.

Current chamber President Michael Scully said the event was “very well-attended by the members of the business community and the chamber’s membership.” About 50 people — chamber members and non-chamber members alike — came for the mixer, he said, and the occasion has become quite popular. “Anyone can come,” Ingoglia noted, “Just like the general meetings.”

He and his band, Mook Justice, which includes other former chamber President Mark Taglianetti, performed for attendees. “It was cool,” Taglianetti commented on the concert part of the night, adding “I love going to the mixers and seeing the business owners and socializing.”

Taglianetti said that he would like to see more mixer-like events in the future and alluded that there have been some new businesses in town as of recently, and he encouraged more businesses to join the chamber.
