Island Park landlord arrested in alleged tenant assault

An Island Park landlord was arrested on attempted burglary and assault charges Tuesday following a physical altercation with his tenant.

At 11:05 p.m. landlord Witold Buczkowski, 51, reportedly had an argument with his Parma Road tenant, an unidentified 47-year-old woman, over rent, according to Nassau County police.

Police report that Buckzkowski then punched the woman in the body and face multiple times, before she fled to her apartment, locked the door and notified authorities. Buckzkowski then reportedly followed her and tried to kick down her door. The woman was transported to an undisclosed nearby hospital suffering from swelling and bruising, police said.

Buczkowski was arrested without incident and charged with second-degree attempted burglary and third-degree assault. He was arraigned on July 26 at the First District Court in Hempstead.
