Movie Nights at Masone

The Village of Island Park and the South Point Plaza Nursing and Rehab Center are kicking off their Movie Nights at Masone Beach summer series with a showing of “Despicable Me 3” on June 29 at 8:15 p.m.

Run, or walk, for Jimi

The 10th Annual Jimi Gubelli Foundation 5k Run/Walk is happening at Masone Beach in Island on June 30. Check in between 8 and 9 a.m. and starting racing at 9:15 a.m. Register for $35 each; children 14 and under are $15 and groups of 10 are $250. All pre-registered participants will receive a t-shirt and there will be an after party featuring food, drink, entertainment and prizes!

Learn all about the life cycle of plants with an outdoor educator at Planting Fields Arboretum, who will lead families on a multi-sensory adventure, Sunday, July 1, 12-1:30 p.m. Listen as The Cat in the Hat explains how seeds grow. Back in the saddle

Catch a glimpse of the Wild West at Old Bethpage Village in an ode to those days when cowboys ruled. Experience the excitement of that long ago era at a reenactment of historic shooting events held at Wild West shows in the late 19th century, on Sunday, July 1, at 11 a.m.  Witness this fast action event in which costumed “cowboys” race their horses through several different courses while shooting. Sixth of July fireworks

The City of Long Beach is holding its annual Fireworks Extravaganza on July 6 starting at 3 p.m. with dozens of food vendors on the boardwalk. Then at 8 p.m., a beach concert is happening followed by a stunning fireworks display.
