All-County Music Festival

Valley Stream students will be participating in Nassau Music Educators Association’s All-County Music Festival from Jan. 7 through 14. Select students will perform songs with other talented students from across the county. The Division I concert, which is comprised of students from Districts 30 and 13, will take place on Jan. 7 at 4 p.m. at the Tilles Center in Greenvale. The Division II concert, which comprises of students from District 30, will take place on Jan. 14 at 11 a.m.

‘How to challenge your tax assessment’ lecture in Elmont

Don Clavin, the Town of Hempstead receiver of taxes, will be holding a lecture on Jan. 8 at 2 p.m. at the Elmont Memorial Library to teach residents how to challenge their tax assessments. He will explain how to take advantage of tax exemptions, assessment challenges and tax discounts. Admission is free. For more information, call the office of the receiver of taxes at (516) 538–1500.

Homework help in Elmont
