Beautiful weather reflects well on chamber car show

The sun was shining on one of the nicest days of the year as the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce held it’s first Exotic Car Show last Sunday at Kennedy Plaza.

The event, presented by Nassau County Craft Shows, featured “GT Joey” Limongelli as the organizer and spokesperson, a world-renowned collector of Ford GT’s. Many other exotic car collectors had their vehicles on display as well.

Chamber President Mark Tannenbaum described the event as a success, and said that he plans to hold another one next year as well. “The show turned out to be excellent, we had thousands and thousands of out-of-towners show up,” he said.

Tannenbaum added that many of the exhibitors were excited about the venue and large turnout and asked him to be back for future events.

Local businesses were also on hand with approximately 40 booths set up at Kennedy Plaza, part of an effort to spotlight area merchants along with the exotic cars. Tannenbaum said the booths were busy all day long, and that many of the nearby restaurants he passed on the street had lines out the door. Earlier in the day, he said, many patrons from around the barrier island stopped by the event. But as the afternoon went on, Tannenbaum met with visitors from Long Island, New York City and Westchester County.

“Everybody enjoyed it,” he said. “It attracted a group of people that often doesn’t come to Long Beach and they got to see what we’re all about. It was a super way to kick off the spring and summer season.” One of Tannenbaum’s goals for the event was to attract upscale clientele to Long Beach to give the community wider exposure.

The chamber will follow up the event with Restaurant Week on April 24, as well as a street fair shortly after that.
