Long Beach resident charged with DWI

Police said that a Long Beach man was drunk when he plowed his car into a Glen Head home on Tuesday morning.

According to police, the incident occurred at 12:55 a.m. on April 30, when Ricardo Medina-Baez, of Long Beach, was driving his 2005 Volkswagen southbound on Glen Cove Avenue.

Police said that the vehicle left the roadway and struck a residence located at Glen Cove Avenue and University Place. A woman was in the home at the time of the crash but was not injured, police said. Ricardo Medina-Baez was taken to a local hospital where he was admitted with a head injury. Police said his condition is unknown at this time. The vehicle was impounded.

Medina-Baez was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and police said that he will be arraigned “as soon as medically practical.”
