The Long Beach Chamber of Commerce is kicking off Restaurant Week on Friday, Oct. 10, an event aimed at supporting local businesses that runs through Oct. 26.

Restaurant Week will coincide with the chamber’s first annual Merchants Week, which begins on Oct. 10 and runs through Friday, Oct. 19.

“This is our 15th semiannual Restaurant Week, and it should be our biggest, especially with Merchants Week overlapping,” said Mark Tannenbaum, the chamber’s executive vice president.

With 22 restaurants participating, Restaurant Week offers customers a chance to check out an array of eclectic restaurants while shopping at the various boutiques and shops during Merchants Week.

Additionally, Restaurant Week is held twice a year and is aimed at helping

businesses, before and after the tough winter months.

More than 20 participating restaurants across the barrier island and in Island Park, ranging from American and Asian to Latin and Italian cuisine, are offering prix fixe menus of $19.99 and under, and some are featuring entertainment.

According to the chamber, the city boasts more than 60 dining establishments featuring an eclectic array of restaurants, bars and grills, and other nightlife establishments.
The chamber’s semiannual event actually runs for two weeks and three weekends.

Restaurant Week is also held during the last week of April and first week of May, and will coincide with the first of the chamber’s three street fairs planned for 2015.

“With the highest density of restaurants on Long Island, we hope to see everybody come in for a tasting,” Tannenbaum said.
