Long Beach woman arrested for prostitution
Alexandra Spychalsky
Lauren Regan

A Long Beach woman was nabbed in a rash of prostitution arrests by the Nassau County Police Department's Narcotics and Vice Squad in the Westbury area on Tuesday night.

According to police, Lauren Regan, 26, of Valley Stream, and Annie Cruz, 25, of Long Beach, were both arrested on May 7 in Westbury and charged with prostitution.

Police said that while inside a local motel, the two women offered to engage in a sexual act with an undercover detective for an agreed upon amount of money. Both suspects were placed under arrest without incident.

Both Regan and Cruz were released on appearance tickets, and are due in First District Court in Hempstead on May 21.

Unless this is part of an alleged larger drug investigation - and if it is perhaps you should mention that - I see no reason to print the photographs of young women charged with prostitution, unless of course you are going to show the men who paid for their services as well. The national press does this when male politicians are caught in compromising situations. I wish the Herald would catch up to 2013 in this regard, especially when we in Long Beach have so much more important issues of concern.
