The Long Beach Martin Luther King Center will hold its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day March at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 16. The parade will step off from Laurelton Boulevard and end at the MLK Center, 615 Riverside Blvd.

Before the march, the city will host a celebration honoring Dr. King on the sixth floor of City Hall from 10 to 11 a.m. Open to all residents, the free event will recognize Dr. King's life and legacy, with the theme "Keep the Dream Alive." Additionally, the ceremony will feature a live dance performance from the Nehemiah Movement and a reading by the winner of the MLK essay/poem contest held in conjunction with the Long Beach High School. The annual march, sponsored by the Martin Luther King Center Inc., will take place shortly after.

Anything Goes

The Long Beach Theatre Guild will perform “Anything Goes” on Saturday, Jan. 21 and Sunday, Jan. 22 at the Long Beach Middle School with additional performances on Saturday, Jan. 28 and Sunday, Jan. 29. The Saturday performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday performances will begin at 3 p.m. There will also be a special American Sign Language interpreted performance for individuals from the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community who will be admitted free of charge on Friday, Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $22 for seniors ($3 at the door) and $18 for youths. Morning Madness Fashion Show

Long Beach High School's annual Morning Madness Senior Fashion Show is set for Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 8 p.m., where seniors will model their prom attire on the runway, part of an effort to raise funds for the annual Morning Madness post-prom celebration. Doors open at 7 p.m. and advance tickets are $5 for students and $15 for adults ($20 for adults at the door). For more information, email AnnMarie Scandole at amscandole@optonline.net.

Snowflake Four-Mile Race

The Long Beach Recreation Department's four-mile Snowflake Race will be held on the boardwalk on Sat., Feb. 4 at 9 a.m. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. in the gymnasium of the Long Beach Catholic Regional School. For more information, call (516) 431-3890.
