Police search for shooter after incident near L.B. Road and Park Ave.

A man was shot in the chest on Friday night in Long Beach, which sparked a search for the gunman and shut down a section of Long Beach Road as police investigated the incident.

Police told Newsday that the shooting occurred around 10 p.m. A spokesman for the department did not immediately respond to the Herald.

Police shut down a section of Long Beach Road and Park Avenue, after the victim reportedly ran out from behind the Long Beach Cinemas as he fled his attacker or attackers and near two Long Beach Fire Department engines that were returning from a call.

The victim flagged down a firefighter and told him he had been shot, Lt. Mark Stark told Newsday.

Firefighters treated the victim and transported him to a local hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
