Long Island residents got a taste of Hollywood glamour at the “Live on Stage” Oscar viewing party at Molloy College’s Madison Theatre.

The Long Beach International Film Festival partnered with Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano and the Madison Theatre to present a live-stream of last Sunday’s Academy Awards ceremony, complete with its own red carpet and “Walk of Fame.”

“This was the perfect place to bring together movie buffs and the Long Island film industry for a place to network,” said Ingrid Dodd, co-founder of the Long Beach International Film Festival. According to Dodd, Madison Theatre's artistic director Angelo Fraboni reached out to the LBIFF to partner for the event.

“This fun and exciting evening was part of the strengthening and growing partnership between Madison Theatre, Molloy College and the Long Beach International Film Festival,” Fraboni said. “We believe that partnering across city lines, Long Beach and Rockville Centre, only helps strengthen Nassau County as a cultural arts player in the film and live entertainment industry. We hope to grow our relation with new partnerships to continue to produce new and exciting cultural events for the Island.”

Comedian Rob Magnotti hosted the event and provided entertainment throughout the evening by appearing on stage dressed as a different Hollywood figure during each commercial break.

Prizes were raffled off and the proceeds from ticket sales went to the Rising Star Scholarship Fund, which provides a student in need of financial assistance with the opportunity to attend Molloy’s state-of-the-art film summer camp.

“The turnout was amazing — we had about 75 people on the stage at Madison Theatre, lounging on couches, sipping champagne, winning raffles, playing movie trivia, and enjoying a delicious dinner and scrumptious desserts,” Dodd said.
