Spotlight on Maritime Surf

The summer has finally arrived, and it’s time to break out the board shorts!

Maritime Surf, at 301 W. Park Ave., features clothing that can easily transition from surf to street — and keeps you safe from the sun’s rays. Popular items include Billabong trunks that are made from a light, fast-drying material, making them the perfect option to go from the beach to the boardwalk. Special Patagonia T-shirts protect skin from ultraviolet light, which causes sunburns. The shirts can be worn on land or in the water, so you can cover up no matter what the activity.

Maritime also has summer wetsuits that are lighter and less restricting for the warmer temperatures, and carries Smith sunglasses, Scott Hawaii sandals, Brixton hats, Sector 9 skateboards and, of course, an array of surfboards. Visit www.maritimesurf.com for more details.

“All surfboards we carry are hand-shaped and made in the U.S.,” Maritime co-owner Mike Flammer said. “They can be customized and made just for you.”

Each week, the Herald will highlight gear and apparel from the city’s four surf shops. Next week: Moku Surf.
