Street Fair hits the boardwalk

The Long Beach Chamber of Commerce will hold its Fourth Annual Street Fair on the Boardwalk on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 24-25, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The fair will begin at Riverside Boulevard, and features craft vendors offering unique handmade items, gift vendors selling unusual handpicked items, and service vendors offering valuable information for the city’s homes, businesses and lifestyles. Oktoberfest in September!

Community BBQ at Kennedy Plaza

The Long Beach Police Department and the North Park Crisis Team will hold the Third Annual Night Out/Barbeque on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 4 to 8 p.m. in Kennedy Plaza.

More surfing at the 2016 Moku Longboard Classic

On Saturday, Sept. 24, the Moku Longboard Classic returns at 8 a.m. between Monroe and Long Beach boulevards, and will raise money for team Robert Browne, a local young man paralyzed in a surfing accident. Not only will the competition be a chance to see some great longboard styling’ and help a great cause, but there will also be a full day of live music on the sound stage. Free screening highlights global warming

On Thursday Sept. 22 at 7:30 p.m., “Merchants of Doubt” will take place at the Long Beach Public Library. The film traces the use of public relations tactics, originally developed by the tobacco industry, to successfully delay government action long past the establishment of scientific consensus about the risks of greenhouse gas emissions and global climate change.
