Secondly, do not throw snow back onto the street. This not only creates a grave hazard as shoveled snow is likely to refreeze into chunks of ice, but it necessitates our plows to again visit these streets. Bear in mind, that once the snow refreezes, it may not be possible to remove it until it thaws.

And remember to clear fire hydrants and to check on friends, family and neighbors. This is what makes us a community that cares.

Government is working for you

Here in Village Hall, and within our village facilities, we are acutely aware of the stresses that our residents are under due to the bad weather. As I touched on earlier, our departments of Public Safety and Code Enforcement are travelling around the village, day and night, keeping an eye out for any issues of concern, and assisting our residents wherever and whenever possible.

I am extremely proud of our road crews who are diligently working long hours, often throughout the nights, to stay on top of winter’s fury. Garbage and recycling pick-ups have continued without disruption, access to our library and parks has remained clear, our emergency service personnel have maintained quick response time and life within our village continues.

Most of all, on behalf of our entire village board and village justice, we thank all of our great residents for their patience and diligence in keeping their walkways clear and their vehicles off the streets. Rest assured that we are all doing everything we can to provide safe passage as we look forward to warmer, snow-free days ahead.

For questions or concerns regarding snow removal or road related issues, please feel free to call our Highway Department at (516) 825-8494.
