West Hempstead LIRR Branch remains suspended; most others reopened

Posted

After this week’s blizzard forced state officials to suspend service on the Long Island Rail Road, service has returned to most branches, while the West Hempstead Branch remains under suspension.

Trains are running on a weekend schedule, meaning less trains will be running than during the typical workday, on the Babylon, Far Rockaway, Hempstead, Long Beach, Oyster Bay and Ronkonkoma Branches. The Port Washington and Hicksville Branches are operating hourly trains.

Full service is expected to resume on Wednesday.
