A ‘Vintage’ year for Hewlett High School literary magazine

The National Council of Teachers of English announced that Vintage, Hewlett High School’s literary magazine, has been selected to receive a rank of Recommended for the highest award in the 2017 NCTE program that recognizes excellence in student literary magazines.

The Vintage Literary Arts club that includes roughly 25 students produces Vintage annually. Every Hewlett High student is invited to submit any piece of original poetry, essays, short stories or visual art they choose which is then edited and selected by the board members.

A part of Hewlett High School for more than 30 years, the Vintage Club as experienced a rebirth in the past five years. English teacher Dr. Darla Smyth, is the club’s adviser, and this school year’s Editor-In-Chief is senior Anna Tevzadze.
