A weekend of fitness is coming to Long Beach.
Between the first-ever NY Fit Fest and the returning Flex on the Beach, there will be no shortage of activities for fitness enthusiasts of all skill levels.

Join world-renowned Olympic athletes, celebrities and trainers at NY Fit Fest on Sunday, Sept. 17 who will lead activities ranging from sunrise yoga, cycling, meditation, dancing and Zumba to surfing, CrossFit, boot camps and boxing.

The festival at Riverside Boulevard and other locations will feature lectures, nutrition workshops and a vendor village on the beach that will showcase booths that promote health, beauty and wellness.

Find your local businesses participating, including Barrier Island CrossFit, Synergy Fitness, Skudin Surf, iLoveKickboxing, Bikram Yoga, Life Time Fitness, Ocean Ride Cycling Studio, lululemon, Nike and Pix 11 News.
Local residents and co-founders of NY Fit Fest Colette Lee Morales, Ingrid Dodd, and Jason Belsky worked to bring the festival to fruition this year.

“It’s my purpose,” said Morales, a local fitness instructor and founder of Colette Lee Productions. “I love bringing people together to exercise, feel good and get strong, and that’s why I wanted to bring this festival to the beach. At this stage, with fitness, there’s something for everybody.”

Flex on the Beach, meanwhile, a CrossFit fitness competition, is back for a fifth year of competition in Long Beach on Saturday, Sept. 16. Co-ed teams of four will compete in rotating workout-of-the-day stations separated into divisions by skill level.

But the fun doesn’t end after the sun goes down. Flex Events HQ will host a beach party on Saturday night featuring DJs spinning tunes underneath a large tent.
“They’re two events that bring together people who share the love of fitness and health,” Dodd said.

“Long Beach is a really great place,” Morales added. “It’s a very active community. So why wouldn’t we be doing Zumba with the ocean in the background?”
