There is a long-standing tradition here at Lawrence Woodmere Academy. What is that tradition? you may ask. Well, it’s Homecoming! Homecoming is the perfect time for all adults and children to come together to share school spirit. The boy’s soccer team plays Portledge, the dance club performs and all the grades run their booths. Even the alumni come for a visit to catch up with past teachers and students.

There are also a lot of activities for younger children. There are multiple bounce houses that could fulfill all of a child’s desires! There is face painting and temporary tattoos.

There are also activities for all ages, such as a pumpkin patch where you get to pick the perfect pumpkin and you can decorate it afterwards. You can also play your chances and try out the mechanical bull pen. Or if you want to be a little safer, do a raffle.

The students run a whole variety of booths, from simple carnival games to signing the senior class photo. The Juniors run the popular cotton candy machines, and the Sophomores run a tie-dye booth.

Parents donate all types of food, from Hispanic spicy rice to the classic creamy American mac & cheese. There is also a huge barbecue pit for hot dogs and hamburgers, and you can have any choice of drink and a bag of chips.

Still shaking off summer? Have a hot chocolate or coffee get into the festive fall spirit. For anyone who has a sweet tooth, don’t worry. There is a whole buffet ranging from cheesecake to brownies. If you thought it couldn’t get any better, it just did: There is also a popcorn machine.

And if you are really feeling the school spirit, buy some LWA gear. You can get Lawrence Woodmere Academy sweatshirts, pajamas, and sweatpants, as well as various types of headgear such as hats and headbands.
