As a founding member of Abraham & Jesselson Law Group, LLC, Ayalah Jesselson plays an integral part in setting the tone for her practice. She knows, firsthand, how difficult and painful a divorce can be, especially when children are added to the mix. Her own personal divorce was the impetus that led her into family and matrimonial law.
“It’s rewarding to be able to help people get through such a tough time,” said Jesselson. “Having gone through it myself helps me understand my client’s position and fears. I have literally been in their shoes.” Well aware of all the emotions involved, she does a lot of hand-holding. Initially, she explains the whole process, maps out the “big picture,” and keeps the client informed with emails after each step. She also tries to maintain a good, respectful relationship with the opposing council.
Divorce is rarely simple, especially when children and assets are involved. Hence, a knowledgeable lawyer can be quite valuable. Abraham & Jesselson Law Group LLC can handle all facets from grounds, to legal separation, to custody and equitable distribution. Family law can deal with father’s rights, an order of protection, grandparent’s visitation rights, and more. Jesselson, a certified mediator, will often suggest mediation to couples looking to resolve their disputes as amicably and efficiently as possible.
Jesselson, who earned her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, has been practicing law since 2005. She started her own firm in 2017. Her expertise lies in areas such as distribution of assets, contested and uncontested divorce, pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements, custody, spousal support, contempt proceedings and family offenses. She’s a member of the Matrimonial Fee Dispute arbitration panel for Nassau County, and the New York State, Nassau County, American and Women’s Bar Associations. She is licensed in New York and New Jersey. Jesselson was recognized as one of a New York’s Rising Stars by Super Lawyers in 2014 and the last four consecutive years.
