LBPD: incident doesn't appear to be a random act of violence

A man is now in serious condition after being shot and wounded on East Fulton Street in Long Beach on Monday night, according to Long Beach Police Department officials.

The Long Beach Police Department responded to 911 call at 9:48 p.m. on Monday about a shot fired in the vicinity of East Fulton Street and Park Place. According to LBPD spokesman Sgt. Brett Curtis, a man, whose name was not released, was shot in the leg while in his car. Long Beach police and emergency medical technicians rushed the victim to an area hospital, where he underwent surgery and is currently in serious condition.

Curtis said the incident does not appear to be a random act of violence. Officials could not confirm, however, if any arrests have been made.

According to News12, neighbors say they saw two people in a dark-colored car at the time of the shooting.
