What sets the Long Island Living Center apart from many other assisted living facilities is the fact that they offer a unique Assisted Living Program. Their ALP is one of the first to be licensed in New York State, allowing the center to accept payment from Medicaid, SSA and SSI with no financial burden to the family. ALP lets residents “age in place” without having to be transferred to a nursing home. And, at The Long Island Living Center, there is no discrimination or stigma based on any resident’s financial ability.

The five-story, 360-bed facility houses state-of-the-art equipment in a beautiful, modern décor. Even though they are one block from the beach, Long Island Living Center was not affected by Hurricane Sandy, although nearby centers were. They took in and housed over 100 residents from other facilities during that crisis. While they exist for 39 years, they renovated and redecorated several years ago.
The Long Island Living Center combines warm comforts of home with luxurious amenities of hotel style living. Everything is designed to meet the physical, social and emotional needs of residents. Nutritious kosher meals and snacks are prepared by master chefs, supervised by registered dieticians, and served in a lovely dining room overlooking gardens. Diverse menus cater to all dietary restrictions and preferences.
Medically, the center covers all bases, from monitoring medication to having all types of health professionals on hand. Physicians, medical specialists, dentists, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, and aides are available. Also on premises is a beauty salon, and areas of worship for various religions. Staff members speak a myriad of different languages. Rooms are single or double occupancy with private bathrooms and flat screen TVs. Included are housekeeping and laundry services.
Residents can enjoy activities everyday, all day. Watch a movie in the new DreamWorks theatre. Enjoy live entertainment — bands, shows, fashion extravaganzas, holiday festivities, and birthday celebrations. Comfy common areas feature a fireplace, pool table and library. A tree-lined outdoor atrium is used for barbecues and parties. Residents can partake in discussion groups, bingo, crafts, sewing classes and much more. Family and friends can visit anytime, or even join a resident for a meal.
