The Island Park Theatre Group, in conjunction with the Island Park Union Free School Recreation Department, presented “On Broadway - A Musical Revue” last weekend. A cast of 70 locals actors, dancers and singers entertained the audience at the Lincoln Orens Middle School in Island Park - and the IPTG broke records with its ticket sales. more
The seniors at East Rockaway High School earned the coveted Cup last weekend during the school's 74th annual Rock Rivalry competition. Points were tallied and included Sports Night, Entrance, mural, backdrop, scriptwriting, choreography, band, lighting, sound, etc. The seniors' score tied for one other class in the history of RR for having the most points in its 74-year history. All of the classes did wonderfully, with entertaining and orginal skits and songs. more
Yet another storm has reminded us that northeast winters can be brutal. This latest blast began Thursday afternoon in Nassau as rain, then heavy rain, and then as temperatures fell, morphed into snowflakes. Inch-by-stormy-inch, the snow piled up overnight to near a foot or so in western Nassau to somewhat less in mid- and eastern parts of the county. more

The East Rockaway Fire Department sponsored a safety fair on Oct. 2, with a Smoke House, safety demonstrations and a ride on a real firetruck -- bells clanging all the way! more
The crisp autumn air matched the bright spirits of the fans at Lynbrook High School’s annual PTA Scholarship Football Game, as the Owls defeated Manhasset by a score of 34 to 27. more
