Bronx man arrested for drunk driving in North Woodmere

A Bronx man was arrested on three charges, including driving drunk and hitting a bicyclist, on Sunday at 7:08 p.m. in North Woodmere, according to police.

Police from the 4th Precinct responded to an accident that involved a cyclist and a car at the intersection of Park Lane and Cedarhurst Street. Justin Aaron Ramsnamy, 19, of Woodhull Avenue, driving a 2008 BMW hit a 55-year-old man, police said.

The cyclist was transported by helicopter to a local hospital. His leg was fractured and there were injuries to the upper portion of his arm. A 15-year-old passenger in the BMW was taken to the hospital for injuries described as non-life threatening. He was released to his parents at the hospital.

Ramsnamy was observed by police to have slurred speech, glassy bloodshot eyes and the smell of alcohol on his breath. He was placed under arrest at the scene and charged with vehicular assault second-degree, aggravated driving intoxicated (Leandra’s Law) and driving while intoxicated.
