Celebrating Homecoming, and a big football win

A cloudy, wet morning gave way to one of the most beautiful Saturdays — just in time for the kick off of Malverne High School’s Homecoming parade, game and festivities.

The parade, which began at Ocean Avenue near Whalen Field, made its way down to the high school where marchers and onlookers were greeted with rides, lunch, a petting zoo and a ribbon cutting ceremony for the high school’s new pavilion. The ceremony was attended by Nassau Legislator Siela Bynoe, who secured funding for the pavilion.

Shortly after, Malverne’s football team went on to defeat Island Trees, 39-0, for its third consecutive win to start the Conference IV season. The Mules were led by Dante Lacroix, who had a 94-yard touchdown run to open the scoring and added two touchdown passes to Maurice Teachey Jr. Teachey also had a rushing score.
