Shooter spotted near Smith Street
At 10:32 p.m. on Oct. 22 a white male in his twenties, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, was brandished a small black handgun in East Rockaway, according to a witness, said police.
Fourth Precinct patrol officers responded to a call in the vicinity of Smith Street, citing that shots had been fired. Following an investigation, the witness revealed that the suspect, believed to be 5’ 8” to 5’ 10” tall, was chasing a second white male, also believed to be in his twenties, heading westbound on Smith Street while pointing the handgun. A shell casing was found at the scene. No injuries were reported.

Arrests

A 41-year-old of East Rockaway, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, (crack cocaine), in the parking lot of White Castle on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook on Oct. 17 at 12:45p.m.

 At 8:55 p.m. on Oct. 20, a 50-year-old of Freeport, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of marijuana on Charles Street.

A 46-year-old man of Lynbrook, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation and insufficient stop lamps, at Scranton Avenue and First Street. on Oct. 22 at 12:37 p.m.


Identity theft

At 2:15 p.m. on Oct. 19, someone made three unauthorized withdrawals from a resident’s Bank of America checking account. The total loss is $170.

Petit larceny

A complainant reported that two male subjects removed waste cooking oil from the rear of Vincent’s Restaurant, located at 14 Atlantic Ave. in Lynbrook on Oct. 19 at 10:15 p.m. The total loss is valued at $150.

On Oct. 20 at 10:15 p.m. a complainant reported two male subjects removed waste cooking oil from the rear of So Far So Good Restaurant, located at 17 Broadway in Lynbrook. The theft occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 18. Total loss is valued at $150.
