Dance Workshop gives Long Islanders a chance to dance with professionals

Posted

On Sep. 12, MaryAnn Grasso and her daughter, Nanci Grasso, the directors of Dance Workshop in Lynbrook, unveiled their New York City studio on the corner of 64th Street and Lexington Avenue.

To commemorate this expansion and celebrate their new studio, Dance Workshop is offering Long Island dancers between the ages of 8 and 18 a chance to dance alongside famous dancers and choreographers.

The Straight Outta Hip Hop workshop, which starts on Feb. 5., will feature Haley Huelsman, 15, a dancer on “Dance Moms,” and JT Church, 11, who was a runner-up on “So You Think You Can Dance?” They will teach students their choreography and offer advice to help them succeed in the industry.

“This would be a great opportunity for Long Island dancers to come into the city and experience the caliber of instruction,” Nanci said.

The workshop lasts three hours on Saturdays and Sundays in February. Each workshop costs $95 and only 30 people can sign up per session.

“They’re extremely exclusive,” Nanci said. “We’re closing them off at 30 people per workshop as we are trying to really give them a hands-on experience.”
