Lynbrook Chamber bestows special awards

Detective William Diebold has been a member of the Lynbrook Police Department since 1975. After graduation from the Nassau county Police Academy, he was assigned to a foot post in the downtown area of the village in the day, and he was on motor patrol in the evening. He was promoted to Administrative Detective in 2005. He has been an active member of the PBA throughout his career, and has held the position of secretary, vice president, and has been president since 1998. He and his wife, Dolores have three children and four grandchildren.

Bill Gaylor has been the owner of Lyn Gifts and Hallmark Card Shop for the past 26 years. He and his wife, Lillian, have made it a focal point of the downtown area on Atlantic Avenue. They are the father of two sons, Bill III and Robert. Gaylor has been the Chamber president for the past nine years, serving two terms. He served another four-year term in 2000. He has provided financially assistance to Our Lady of Peace, sponsoring food drives, Easter raffles and assisting the local government with small business summit meetings. He is an associate member of the Lynbrook Hose Company, and has been instrumental in providing much needed funding of behalf of Operation Wounded Warrior, which is sponsored by the Lynbrook Fire Department. He is an active member of the Elks Lodge #1, and also sponsors an annual scholarship award in his father’s name.

“Bill Gaylor has been instrumental in all of his endeavors,” said Rogers. “He has a wealth of community activities that could be embellished upon … but at this time, we acknowledge this gentleman for his outstanding commitment to the business community and as the present of the Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce.”
