The Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce held its annual Installation of Officers Dinner Dance last Thursday, this year honoring Vincent and Joseph Carusone of Vincent’s Restaurant; Chief Anthony DeCarlo of the Lynbrook Fire Department; Det. William Diebold of the Lynbrook Police Department; and Chamber President C. William Gaylor Jr. owner of Lyn Gift and Hallmark Card Shop. The event was held at the Maris Stella Knights of Columbus Hall on Hempstead Avenue in Lynbrook. In 1962, Vincent Carusone and his brother opened a pizzeria in the heart of Lynbrook. In 1978, they expanded, moved, and opened “Vincent’s Pizzeria and Restaurant.” Today, Vincent and his son, Joseph run the family business together. While some of the recipes are new, Vincent brought some over from Italy. Everything from the pizza dough to the sauces are made fresh daily.

“The Carusone family plays a very active part as members of the Lynbrook community. They are members of the Chamber, contribute to numerous charities and fundraisers … and they help the community in any way they can,” said newly-sworn in Chamber President Denise Rogers.

Anthony “Zemo” DeCarlo Jr. was sworn into office as fire chief last April. He joined Tally-Ho Engine Company 3 of the Lynbrook Fire Department because of his late uncle, ex-chief and honorary commissioner Dominick “Uncle Dom” DeCarlo, who served for 65 years and was an inspiration to his nephew. Born and raised in Lynbrook, DeCarlo is a third-generation resident, the father of three children and operates his own landscaping business.

“Thank you for your leadership, commitment and dedication to the residents and business community of the Incorporated Village of Lynbrook,” Rogers said.
