Mixing it up in Lynbrook

Guest bartenders, patrons raise money at P12 for OLP food pantry

Mixing and mingling for a good cause: Lynbrook Mayor William Hendrick, along with Assemblyman Brian Curran and Chamber President Denise Rogers all had a great time guest bartending at P12 on Dec. 10 for the Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce fundraiser held to benefit the Our Lady of Peace Social Ministry Food Pantry. A contest was also held to see who would make the most in tips. “It was a fantastic time for a wonderful cause,” said Hendrick, who claimed to have made the most tips and won the contest.

“I hope this becomes an annual tradition to raise much needed funds for Our Lady Of Peace food pantry,” said Curran, who lightheartedly challenged Hendrick as to who made the most in tips. “Denise and I did!” he said.

“I had a really great time guest bartending,” said Rogers. “My co-bartenders and I served up some great drinks!  I would also like to set the record straight and inform everyone that I beat both the mayor and our assemblyman in tips for the night!”

Either way, the real winners were the recipients of the food pantry. Attendees also brought non-perishable food items that they turned in to Santa’s Helper (a.k.a. Linda Stephenson) at the door.

According to Stephen Wangel, Chamber member and owner of The Kitchen Loft, the 50/50 raffle was won by David O’Neill of Village Car Service, who donated his winnings back to the food pantry. More than $300 was raised in tips (that will be donated to the food pantry), and in total, including an extra donation from the chamber, $750 will go to the Our Lady of Peace food pantry.

And to top it off, lots of laughter and good times were shared with community members throughout the night.
