Police say man bought more than $12k in gift cards with bad credit cards

Nassau County Police arrested a man for buying more than $12,000 in gift cards with fraudulent credit cards.

According to detectives, between Oct. 16, 2015 and Feb. 11, Jaquell McNeal, 22, of Springfield Boulevard, Queens purchased the gift cards from Stop & Shop supermarkets in Oceanside, Merrick and New Hyde Park.

Police found McNeal and arrested him on June 29 at Queens Criminal Court.

Nassau County Police have charged McNeal with third-degree larceny. He was arraigned on June 30 at First District Court in Hempstead and is being held on bail of $10,000 bond or $5,000 cash. His next court date is July 5.

McNeal has been arrested before. On Sept. 19, 2015, New York City Police charged him with second-degree possession of a forged instrument and failure to stop at a stop sign. He plead guilty in January to third-degree possession of a forged instrument and disorderly conduct. His last date in Queens Criminal Court was June 13.
