An Evening of Rodgers and Hammerstein
The memorable music from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic musicals comes alive in a special performance dedicated to Joan Roberts, the original Laurey in Oklahoma!. An ensemble of Broadway veterans and current young stars sing highlights from the Rodgers and Hammerstein songbook. The cast includes Sarah Losner, a senior at Sanford H. Calhoun High School in Merrick, who was mentored by Roberts. Lee Meriwether, Marni Nixon, Lee Roy Reams and Frank Basile, headline the vibrant cast.

Breakfast at Belmont
Get a look at historic Belmont Park at a behind-the-scenes peak at what goes on at the renowned racetrack. Learn more about the everyday routines of a racehorse, beginning with breakfast, and then take a tram ride (through the stable area), watch a Paddock Show and participate in a Starting Gate demonstration. Also on Saturday, Belmont Park hosts the inaugural Belmont Food Truck Festival, featuring enticing culinary offerings from Manhattan’s top food trucks that are all the rage currently.

NCMA’s Family Day
Bring the family to Nassau County Museum of Art for a special day at the museum. Take the kids on a docent-led walk-through of the current exhibition, “AB-EX/RE-CON: Abstract Expressionism Reconsidered” and the contemporary galleries, featuring the works of Asad Faulwell and Chris Johanson, with supervised art activities, at 1:30 p.m. Also, enjoy a holiday weekend stroll through the museum’s 145 acres, which include many nature trails through the woods, ideal for family hikes.
